Once a month on a Saturday afternoon, Recess sponsors an artist in the community by offering the studio space up to invite people to learn more about the artist and their creative process. This is usually a laid back event that invites people to come in and ask questions and connect with artists beyond social media. Artists are invited to bring what inspires them as talking points for their guests, as well as sell products at a smaller scale.

How it works

For artists

Recess Select is meant to be a laid back event where artists are invited to share their process within the context of tabling the space.

• One table setup (unless otherwise requested)
• Selling optional, can provide a free Shopify card reader on the day of Select, you just have to have Shopify set up; otherwise, please have a cash box ready for yourself
• 12-4pm, unless otherwise requested
• Come in for a free photoshoot and prep for your day with Shanik (for marketing purposes)
• Some inspo for your setup: Steen, Adria, etcetc
• Bring in whatever you feel like sharing that contributes to your story and process as an artist
• No food will be provided, unless you’re looking to do something around that
• We can help print things, but any other set up will be in your discretion

For attendees

• Anyone can attend
• On the day of, the doors should be open downstairs, otherwise contact Shanik
• Ask questions and interact with the artist in a more intimate setting than a market or bar
• Support your artist by bringing a friend, or bring cash if they are selling something
